Dallas Terrors Ghost Tour: A Spooky, Surprising Night Out

We recently joined US Ghost Adventures for a Ghost Tour in our home city of Dallas and had a fantastic time. Even after living in Dallas for over four years, we walked away with new insights into the city’s past—and a few shivers, too.

What to Expect
This is a fully outdoor walking tour, so you’ll want to wear comfortable shoes and dress accordingly. (Tour runs rain or shine, so bring umbrellas or ponchos if rain’s in the forecast.) Parking near Union Station was easy (meters were free on the plaza), and our guides made everything seamless from the start.
We were greeted by one of our tour guides, Jim, who immediately set the tone for the night with a warm welcome, clear instructions, and plenty of energy. (He was carrying the classic lantern—always a nice touch to let you know you’re in the right place.) Jim was joined by Jesse, and together they brought serious knowledge and a whole lot of enthusiasm to the evening.
A Historic Walking Tour with a Ghostly Twist
We were expecting a ghost tour heavy on hauntings—especially when our guide kicked off the night by saying, “Dallas is really haunted.” But what we got instead was a deep dive into Dallas’ past, with just the right dash of the paranormal. It turned out to be a great blend for us, though it might be a little disappointing if you’re hoping for something truly spine-tingling. While some ghost stories made their way in—like the tragic tales from the Holiday Inn Express downtown, formerly Hotel Lawrence—the real standout of the night was the historical storytelling.
From the Bonnie and Clyde connection to how the "City of Hate" got its moniker, and of course, a detailed stop discussing the JFK assassination right near Dealey Plaza, this tour took us through the heart of Dallas’ most defining and often chilling moments. We even discussed some conspiracy theories and learned about the ongoing search for original footage from a man named Orville and his old film camera, which is believed to have captured a never-before-seen angle of November 22, 1963.
👀 Pro Tip from Our Guide: Did you know there’s a Dealey Plaza Live Cam streaming from the Sixth Floor Museum? You can tune in anytime, but if you really want to experience the weight of history, hop on around noon on November 22nd.
Even though we’ve walked these streets dozens of times, the tour gave us a whole new lens on the city. And while we didn’t dive into every ghost story, a quick Google search will tell you that Dallas has no shortage of haunted lore, especially tied to downtown hotels and old buildings. If you’re eager to dig deeper into the paranormal, there’s plenty out there to keep you up at night.
A Few Things to Know
There are no bathrooms on the tour route, so plan accordingly.
Pets are welcome (as long as they’re well-behaved).
No smoking or drinking during the tour.
Tips for your guide are encouraged—cash or digital is fine.
Final Thoughts
If you’re hoping for a terrifying, jump-scare-style ghost tour, this leans more historical than haunted. Personally, we didn’t mind one bit. Jesse’s storytelling, the downtown atmosphere, and the weight of Dallas' darker chapters gave the whole thing a haunting ambiance of its own.
If you’re booking it as an entertaining walking tour—with a spooky twist—we’d gladly recommend US Ghost Adventures to anyone visiting Dallas, or even longtime locals looking to see their city through a more ghostly lens.
This was one of our first outings of Travel Season 2025: Texas & The Southcentral, and it reminded us that the magic of travel doesn’t always require plane tickets or cross-country road trips. It’s about stepping into a new story, getting curious, and experiencing the place you’re in with fresh eyes. This tour showed us it’s absolutely possible to bring that same spirit home—turns out, you don’t have to go far to feel transported.
