Today officially begins our adventure along Highway 93 as we drive from Lake Louise to Jasper, a route often celebrated as one of the world’s ultimate road trips. An abundance of beauty makes the Canadian Rockies so magical—and this drive is about to take our breath away in more ways than one!

The Icefields Parkway is named after the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice and snow south of the Arctic Circle. This massive icefield is the largest icefield in the Rocky Mountains and a must-stop on our road trip.

Athabasca Falls is our final stop along the Parkway before we reach Jasper. Known for its picturesque setting and the force of the plunging Athabasca River, the raw beauty and power of Athabasca Falls make it an incredible roadside stop.

As we refuel with comfort food after a peaceful morning in this charming, laid-back town, there’s zero doubt in either of our minds… We’re falling more in love with Jasper with every second (and every bite 😋)!

Our story begins in Gustavus, Alaska, as our trek into Glacier Bay National Park takes us further from a paved road than ever before. Here's to daily recapping of an unforgettable adventure… 21 days, 8 national parks, and 1 Great Alaskan Road Trip!

The second stop of our Great Alaskan Road Trip takes us to Seward, Alaska, and Kenai Fjords National Park. Glaciers steal the show as we go dog sledding across them, ice climbing through them, and sea kayaking beneath them—but then it's time to brave the infamous McCarthy Road.

Our third stop is McCarthy, Alaska, and Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. One of us earns a certificate for outstanding will, bravery, and thermoregulation—while the other learns to use a shared outhouse with a screen door. Oh, and we finally cross a big item off our bucket list!

Things are touch-and-go as we aim to visit parks #4 and #5 on our Great Alaskan Road Trip. This leg includes an ice bar, a detour to the North Pole, and our own version of the TV show Alone—when we’re dropped off solo in one of the most remote national parks in the U.S.

Imagine a wild, open zoo—home to thousands of brown bears, where you can often spot a dozen or more at once. This is Katmai National Park, the sixth park of our trip and our home sweet (camping) home for the next two nights.
